Terms of Use
Effective May 26, 2026
Plain-English rules for writing reviews, submitting programs, and claiming listings on The Centre Line. By using the site you agree to these terms.
1. The site and who runs it
The Centre Line is an independent, structured-review platform for hockey tournaments, leagues, and clubs / associations. Where a legal entity is required, the operator is Train 2.0 Hockey Coaching Inc., 55 East 5th Avenue, Vancouver, BC, Canada. References to “we,” “us,” or “The Centre Line” mean that operator.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live.
- You must have a real, first-hand relationship with the programs you review — as a parent, current or former player of legal age, coach, volunteer, or board member.
- One account per person. No shared accounts.
3. Your account
You sign in by magic link sent to your email. You are responsible for keeping access to that inbox secure. Tell us immediately if you think your account has been used by someone else.
4. Review rules
- One review per program per season. Enforced by the system; trying to circumvent it is grounds for removal.
- First-hand only.Don't write reviews of programs you haven't been involved with.
- Both sides required. Every review names what works and what to warn another family about. Pure praise or pure rage is not a review.
- Facts must be honest. The factual fields (fees, practices, ratios, travel) should reflect what you actually experienced. Don't inflate or deflate.
- No defamation.Don't accuse named individuals of crimes, abuse, or misconduct without first-hand knowledge. Speak about programs and roles, not personal accusations.
- No personal data about minors.Don't name children. Don't share scores or stats that identify a specific child.
- No paid posts. If you were paid, comped, or otherwise incentivized to leave a review, you may not post it. Programs and their staff may not write or solicit reviews of their own program.
Reviews that break these rules can be flagged or removed at our discretion. We don't edit your words; we either publish them or take them down.
5. What you grant us
You keep ownership of what you write. By submitting a review, program submission, or listing claim, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, translate, and aggregate that content for as long as it's on the site. You can revoke this license by deleting your content. Aggregated, non-identifying scores derived from your review may continue to be shown after removal.
6. Submitting a program
You can request that we add a tournament, league, or club / association via the request form. Submissions are reviewed by our moderators. We may reject submissions that don't meet our bar (real program, real teams, real season) or that we cannot verify. You don't get rights over a program just because you submitted it.
7. Claiming a listing
A program's authorized representative — a tournament director, GM, president, head of school, board member, or designated communications lead — may claim the program's listing on The Centre Line. To claim a listing:
- You must have a real role with the program and be authorized to speak for it.
- You must claim from an email at the program's official domain, OR provide a verifiable link to a public staff page, official bio, or roster that names you in that role.
- If we can't verify the claim, we'll ask for more proof or contact the program through publicly listed channels.
What a claim does:
- Adds a verified “Claimed” mark to the listing.
- Allows the claimant to suggest factual corrections to the program's public information (description, age groups, levels, governing body, website). Our moderators apply corrections we can verify.
- Lets you respond to reviews through a structured right-of-reply feature (when it ships).
What a claim does NOT do:
- It does not let you delete, edit, hide, or flag reviews. Reviews are reader-submitted and we hold them to the rules in Section 4, not to the program's preference.
- It does not change the score. Scores are derived from reviews and are not for sale.
- It does not transfer ownership of the listing page or of any review content to you or the program.
- It is not exclusive to one individual; if the authorized representative changes, the new representative can claim and we will revoke the previous claim.
We may revoke a claim at any time if we receive credible information that the claimant no longer represents the program, if we discover the claim was made in bad faith, or if the claim is used to attempt to suppress or game reviews. Disputes between competing claimants are resolved by us in writing to all parties involved, and our decision is final for purposes of this site.
8. Editorial independence
We do not sell rankings, score boosts, featured placement, or “verified” status. We do not accept payment from programs in exchange for favourable coverage. A claim is free and does not change a program's score. The Lineup reflects reviewer-submitted data only.
9. Acceptable use
- Don't impersonate anyone or misrepresent your role.
- Don't scrape, mirror, or republish substantial portions of the site. Reasonable quoting with attribution is fine.
- Don't use the site to harass any person.
- Don't try to defeat the “one review per season” rule, create fake accounts, coordinate reviews, or otherwise game the rankings.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.
10. Reporting and takedowns
If you believe a review contains defamation, infringes a copyright, or unlawfully identifies a minor, email legal@centrelinehockey.com with the specific URL, the specific passage, and your basis for the request. We will respond within a reasonable time. We don't remove reviews simply because the subject disagrees with them.
11. Disclaimers
Reviews are personal opinions of the people who wrote them, not statements of fact endorsed by us. Aggregate scores are summaries of those opinions and the factual fields reviewers submitted; they are a reader's guide, not advice.
The site is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind to the maximum extent permitted by law. We don't guarantee any particular ranking, score, suppression threshold, moderation outcome, or uptime.
12. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the site or these terms is capped at CAD $100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits; if so, they apply to the extent permitted.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator and its officers, directors, and employees from claims arising out of (a) content you submit, (b) your use of the site, or (c) your breach of these terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply in BC, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of British Columbia have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
15. Termination
You can stop using the site at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (license, disclaimers, liability, governing law) will survive termination.
16. Changes
If we change these terms materially, we'll update the effective date at the top and post a notice on the home page for at least 14 days. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
